S&P 500 came within one point of breaking 52-week high, signaling potential upward trend
C and S funds now outranking F fund despite F's year-to-date leadership position
I fund remains last in performance with negative returns across all time periods
Last week I mentioned that “I’d sure like to see the S&P 500 break out and make a new 52 week high in the not too distant future”. Friday’s rally brought us to within one-point of that becoming a reality. I also mentioned “and then see a nice trend to the upside”. While no one can predict the future, the probability of the above bullishness seems to be mounting with each passing day. With regard to the TSP, the F fund is the best performing fund on a Year To Date (YTD) basis. However, from a performance ranking (PR) perspective, which places a higher weighting on more recent performance, both the C and S funds have just now rotated above the F fund. As such, we’re recommending a shift in allocation between those three funds and also raising their total allocation to 95 percent. For those of you wondering about the I fund, both its YTD and PR remain in last place with negative returns.
