S&P 500 shows remarkable stability with 40 straight days of moves under 1%
S fund outperforms with new yearly high, showing small-cap strength
Low volatility streak may end as traders return from Labor Day break
The S&P 500 continues “building a nice base” as it closed the week at 2179. That makes it 40 trading sessions in a row without a move of more than 1 percent for the S&P 500. However, the same does not hold true for the S fund as it closed Friday at a new high for the year. Next week we may break that “40 straight streak” as more traders return to the markets after the Labor Day weekend. For now, allocations remain the same with 95 percent in equity funds (C/S/I).
