TSP Market Summary: Week of February 13, 2016

By Roy Weisert, PhD, CFP

Key Takeaways

  • All TSP equity funds (C, S, I) reached new 52-week lows on Thursday
  • S&P 500 lost nearly 1% for the week despite Friday's positive session
  • Market at critical juncture: S&P 500 may test 1900 resistance or fall to 1700s

Although Friday was bullish, for the week the S&P 500 lost nearly 1 percent. In fact, Thursday was a unique day for all three of the TSP equity funds, as the C, S and I funds hit new 52 week lows. Next week is a short one as we celebrate President’s Day on Monday, but we’ll wait in anticipation of the market’s next move. The main question is “Will the S&P 500 next hit 1900, or cross into 1700 territory?”
