TSP Market Summary: Week of May 08, 2016

By Roy Weisert, PhD, CFP

Key Takeaways

  • S&P 500 bounced back Friday to stay positive for 2016 despite weekly downward trend
  • C Fund remains range-bound between 2043-2058, suggesting continued market indecision
  • Flat market pattern persists as stocks gravitate toward familiar trading range

First of all, let me wish everyone a very Happy Mother’s Day. Last Friday the S&P 500 closed at 2057. Although it did have a slight downward trajectory for the majority of the week, it bounced back on Friday afternoon to remain in positive territory for the year. This market seems content once again to come back to that area between 2058, where it closed at the end of 2014, and 2043, where it closed at the end of 2015. Hence, a flat market.
