By Roy Weisert, PhD, CFP

Key Takeaways

  • S&P 500 remained essentially flat, finishing at 2263 after two weeks of consolidation
  • Dow Jones neared the psychological 20,000 level, coming within just 13 points
  • Year-end rally expected with potential for new record highs in final week of 2016

First of all, we’d like to wish you all a Happy Holiday season and hope you have a festive time with your family and friends. As mentioned last week, the markets have continued to consolidate with the S&P 500 finishing the week at 2263, or four points above where it was two weeks ago. Also, the Dow came within 13 points of that psychological 20,000 level, so expect that march to continue next week. Hopefully this last week of 2016 will be bullish and we’ll see the year close out with new record highs. As such, allocations remain the same.
