TSP Market Summary: Week of July 09, 2017

By Roy Weisert, PhD, CFP

Key Takeaways

  • Markets recovered from Thursday's losses to finish the week essentially unchanged
  • TSP allocation strategy moving to cautious wait-and-see approach with exchanges held back
  • Upcoming earnings reports and end-of-July period identified as key decision points

It was a tough day for the markets on Thursday, but all told the S&P 500 closed Friday at 2424 or basically flat for the week. We’ll see what happens next week as more companies report quarterly earnings. That said, we’ll take more of a “wait and see” stance with the TSP TIPS allocation, saving those two exchanges for next week and the last weekend of July if needed.
