TSP Market Summary: Week of March 17, 2018

By Roy Weisert, PhD, CFP

Key Takeaways

  • S&P 500 showed consolidation pattern, closing positive at 2751 despite cabinet departures
  • Commentary maintains bullish equity stance across C, S, and I funds despite volatility
  • New Fed Chair's first meeting next week poses potential rate hike risk to markets

This past week seemed to have a consolidation feel to it with the S&P 500 closing out positive on Friday at 2751. The week\'s market behavior seemed to bounce around in step with the departure of two key White House cabinet members. For next week., we have the first Fed meeting chaired by the new Fed Chair, which may result in an interest rate hike. That said, we recommend no change in our TSP TIPS allocation of 100 percent invested in the three equity funds.
